Imagine having failed the CPNE, despite having more than 10 years experience of bedside care and have studied, truely studied for 3 solid months, 8 telephone chats with Excelsior nursing instructors--The CPNE seemed the wall to my dream. All the test I had taken before seemed like grade school homework compared to this college level Obstacle course. I felt frustrated, alone and inadequate. I questioned my abilities. I failed in April 2005 because I could not get my drip count right--I had barely passed all--ALL of the adult and pediatric PCS's. I placed myself on the waitlist and found CHE. My workshop leader was Tina--a college professor that teaches both microbiology and health sciences. Tina is a bright, enthusiastic person who really shows she cares for her students. She gives you the knowledge that she learned from attending three other workshops. She sprinkled in stories of other CPNE students. I was able to practice my lab skills and patient care senarios. I loved the feedback from a graduate of Excelsior College. I passed the CPNE with High Flying Colors. Even the CA complimented me on my skills. Others may promise to show you the Excelsior way--but really, no other class allowed me the time to gain the confidence and composure necessary to spend another $1575 for the CPNE plus travel arrangements. The CPNE can and has shaken the most skilled, nerves of steel LVN, EMT, RCP (RT), CNA, and surgical technician. There is a way to pass this test--CHE helped me--I think this workshop can help you. Though many have taken the CPNE and passed without any workshop--but some are like me and need the structure of a classroom, like the interaction with other like-minded students, and need the extra time to practice the lab stations, patient care senarios and documentation (mar, planning, implementation and evaluation phase charting).
